2026 preliminary ITINERARY

Please note: Participants are required to engage in fundraising efforts to further support our chosen mental health wellbeing partners for this campaign.

PRE - TREK ARRIVAL (Brisbane):

Please arrive the day before and overnight due to limited direct flights - (We’re more than happy to assist with advice around flights and accommodation).

DAY 1

Depart from Brisbane Airport and arrive in Papua New Guinea. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by your Australian Kokoda Tours guide and transported to the Hilton Hotel in Port Moresby. The evening will include a trek briefing by the pool, followed by a relaxing group dinner, and The Man Cave presenting ‘Courageous Conversations’, which will set the tone for our journey.

DAY 2

Port Moresby to Popondetta via Air (Approx. 30 minutes flight)

Popondetta to Kokoda via Private Road transport (Approx. 2.5 - 3hrs)

Kokoda to Deniki - approx. 3 hours trekking.

DAY 3

Deniki to Alola - approx. 6 hours trekking

DAY 4

Alola to Vasi Campsite - approx. 8 hours trekking

DAY 5

Templetons to Kagi - approx. 6 hours trekking

A powerful afternoon of giving back: building shower huts and a change room for the Kagi community

Evening - fireside chat/activity ‘step to the line’ bought to you by Breakthrough Mental Health Research Foundation

DAY 6

Kagi to Menari - approx. 7 hours trekking

DAY 7

Menari to Nauro - approx. 6 hours

Evening - fireside chat/activity, bought to you by Derrick McManus

DAY 8

Nauro to Ua-Ule creek - approx. 7 hours trekking

DAY 9

Ua-Ule creek to Owers Corner - approx. 6 hours trekking.

Owers Cnr – Bomana Cemetery

Hilton Hotel – Celebration Dinner

DAY 10

Depart Papua New Guinea / Arrive in Brisbane

(Participants arrange their own return travel — we’re happy to guide you on the best options)

• 8 days trekking the magnificent Kokoda Track

• Domestic flights in Papua New Guinea (PNG)

• International flights ex Brisbane, Queensland

• Airport transfers in Papua New Guinea

• 2 nights’ accommodation in Port Moresby in luxury 5-star twin share accommodation (including breakfast and dinner)

• Backpacks supplied to all trekkers (trekkers bring their own daypack)
